“Volunteers do not necessarily always have the time, they have the heart.” – Elizabeth Andrew

End-of-Life Doula Program

Don Peslis, Anew Care’s Director of Experience, discusses Anew Hospice’s End-of-Life Doula volunteer program. Similar to a birth doula, an end-of-life doula is a volunteer role that provides guidance and support to the dying and their loved ones.

Volunteers

Volunteering with Anew Hospice can be a very rewarding experience. Hospice patients need caring volunteers to:

  • Listen as they reminisce and share stories about their life.
  • Quietly hold their hand, providing comfort.
  • Read scripture or poetry.
  • Sing along with them or play soothing music.

As a volunteer, you can also just be that much-needed friend and have the privilege of listening to fascinating stories of the past and present. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, please contact us at (866) 887-1506 or fill out the form below.
